Jesus told parables so His creation could better understand Him the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus says He’s the one true vine, and we are His branches that stem from Him. The Father, Jesus’s dad, is like a gardener. He takes care of the vine, clips off the dead parts, and trims the branches so they will be healthy and make fruit.
Take a look at the picture of this vine.

The thick center vine would represent Jesus, and all the smaller branches would represent the many people in our world.
Those who trust in Jesus Christ do two things. 1) they “become more like Jesus” by becoming better and 2) they “make righteous fruit”. Righteous fruit would be the things you do in life like being kind to people who are mean, having self-control and not stealing your siblings food, being patient with your mom when you and her are grocery shopping, and more!
Jesus also says that the branches that bear good fruit, the Father trims, but the branches that are dead, He cuts off.
What does this mean? Find out by completing your worksheet!
